John Ray Hocking
John Ray Hocking, 85, of Booker, died Jan. 9, 2026 at in Booker.
Viewing will be Thursday, Jan. 15, from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. and Friday, Jan. 16, from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home in Booker. Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 17, at 10:30 a.m. at Booker Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Heart Cemetery in Booker. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home in Perryton.
He was born Dec. 17, 1940 in Beaver, OK. He served in the United StatesArmy from 1961-64 as an airborne paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Division. He married Ruthanna Clark on Oct. 10, 1964 in Booker. He was a farmer and a licensed pilot instructor. He was also an EMT and volunteer fireman, a 4-H and Lipscomb County Livestock Show volunteer.
He was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth Hocking; and his parents, John and Dellaurs Hocking.
He is survived by his wife, Ruthanna; two sons, John Wayne Hocking and David Ray Hocking; one brother, Dennis Hocking; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
