John Wesley Manning died December 11, 2025 in Houston.
He was born December 29, 1941 to Irvin and Lois Randolph Manning. John graduated from Perryton High School, Hardin Simmons University, and studied writing at Rice University.
John served in theArmy. He was a Green Beret and a medic. He saw active duty two years, in Santo Domingo and one year in Viet Nam.
He married Oma Dell Ryan Baker. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Perryton.
John was a start up electrical engineer for several different oil companies. He started up the first offshore rig in the North Sea off the coast of Scotland.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Clifford Manning; and his nephew, Rick James.
John is survived by his wife, Oma Dell; his brother, Wayne Manning and his wife Kay; two daughters, Caren Seal and husband Mike, and Jennifer Manning; one son, Jake Johnson and wife Linh; one stepson, Jim Ryan Baker and wife Gail Ann; grandchildren, Catherine Seal and Caroline Seal; step-grandchildren, Abigail Baker, Travis Baker and William Baker; nephew, Dr. Randy Manning; and niece, Donna Manning.
