Sense and Nonsense

Because of social taboos against women writing fiction in the early 1800s, Jane Austen was only credited as “A Lady” when she wrote “Sense and Sensibility” in 1811. She published another five novels and was credited as “The Author of ‘Sense and Sensibility.’” She wasn’t credited under her own name until after she died at the age of 41 in 1817....
