Barnett rites held

Evelyn Barnett, 92, of Perryton, died Dec. 11, 2025.

Services were held Monday, Dec. 15, at First Christian Church with Rev. Dan Anderson officiating. Burial followed in Ochiltree Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.

She was born Jan. 26, 1933 in Perryton, and married Bob Wayne Barnett, Sr. on Feb. 1, 1949.

She was a member of First Christian Church, where she started the Young at Heart program, and later Happy Timers.

She was president of the Jennie June Club and the Ochiltree General Hospital Auxiliary. She also served on the boards of the Beehive Daycare Center, Ochiltree County Senior Citizens Association, United Way and Waka Christian Center. She was also a lay director for Walk to Emmaus.

She was named the Kiwanis Workhorse of the Year in 1986, a Gold Star Citizen by the Chamber of Commerce, and the Community and Service Award from Modern Woodmen.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; one son, Bobby Wayne Barnett, Jr.; her parents, George Samuel and Jewell Ida (Pitts) Yates; and four brothers, Dale Yates, Don Yates, Lloyd Yates and Leland Yates.

She is survived by two daughters, Judy Hutchison of Pampa and Sandy Judice of Perryton; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-greatgrandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the Waka Christian Center, the OGH Auxiliary or one’s favorite charity.
