Leon Stanley ‘Stan’ White II

Leon Stanley “Stan” White ll, 70, passed away November 13, 2024, in Livingston.

Stan was born May 4, 1954, in Denton. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leon S. White and Marian Elizabeth Green White, (Fort Worth); his paternal grandparents, L (Leon) White and Katherine Margaret Schebesta White, (Fort Worth); and his maternal grandparents, Carroll Alfred Green and Gladys Elizabeth White Green, (Quitman).

Stan was the youngest grandson of Leon White, of L. White Boot and Saddle, located in the Fort Worth Stockyards for many years. On his maternal side, Stan was a descendant of Ferdinand Carroll, first resident and Founder of Carroll’s Prairie, Como, Texas, in 1847.

Stan’s early childhood was spent in Whitewright, among many close families and friends. In 1964, his family relocated to Perryton, where his outgoing personality led to lifelong friends and community activities.

His favorite past time, after family and friends focused on fun times, hunting, showcasing a beautiful voice and refining a strong golf game. Stan began his leadership talent while attending Perryton High School, serving in multiple offices; and where he graduated in 1974. He attended Texas Tech University where he joined Zeta Pi Chapter of Sigma Nu Fraternity, and was blessed with lifelong friendships.

His business career began at McCutchen Insurance in Perryton. Stan relocated to Houston, in 1981, where he established several Commercial and Residential Lending companies over 20 years. He enjoyed his connection with the Houston Rotary Club, various board appointments, his membership at First Presbyterian Church, his choir affiliations and community service. Later in his career, Stan became a contractor and traveled throughout the United States and once again made lasting friendships.

His family and friends will miss Stan’s infectious laugh, his playful pranks, his vivid stories, his smile that lit any room and those beautiful blue eyes. Stan never met strangers, he only made new friends.

Most recently, Stan volunteered with Golden Beginnings Golden Retriever Rescue (GBGRR.org), where he transported Goldens to Houston for adoption. Many of these Goldens came home with Stan.

Stan and his family were recognized for their work in returning a collection of historical handguns, once owned by the Texas Ranger, Lone Wolf Gonzales, to the Texas Ranger Museum and to be placed into history for all time.

Stan is survived by his wife, Nancy CalhounWhite; his sister and brother-inlaw, Sara White Morrison and Hugh Martin Morrison; nephews, Matthew White Morrison and Hugh Andrew Morrison and wife, Meggan Stall Morrison, and their children, Hugh Henry Morrison and Ella Elizabeth Morrison, along with Charlie and Mandy Calhoun and their children Amber and Tyler Calhoun; and Sterling and Bettye Cooper, Sterling M.
