Nancy Florene Enloe Anderson was born on July 21,1937, on the rolling plains of Texas, in Spur, and departed this world peacefully on August 27, 2024, in Lubbock, at the age of 87. Her journey through life was marked by dedication to family, friends and community.
Nancy’s journey of love and family began with her marriage to Jerry Clifton Anderson on August 26,1955, in Olney. Together they embraced the joys and challenges of life, welcoming their daughter, Tina Lynn on July 29,1957. Sadly, their son Randy Dale came into the world silently on July 4, 1960, in Olney. In 1963, the Ander- sons made Perryton their home, where they celebrated the birth of their second son, Trent Lane, on January 13, 1969.
Nancy was an active member of the First Christian Church serving as a Deacon and served on numerous committees.
Her Civic engagement extended beyond the church, championing causes “Don’t Mess with Texas” and “KeepAmerica Beautiful”, reflecting her enduring commitment to a cleaner and more beautiful country. She was awarded the County and State Improvement Committee appreciation award in 1989 and also served as the Director of the Perryton-Ochiltree Chamber of Commerce for 19861988.
Even as Nancy balanced her responsibilities, she found time to invest in the causes of the Shriners, particularly drawn to the synergy of cooking with them to support the Shriners Hospitals A woman of remarkable spirit, Nancy was among the founding members of the Twilit Tillers Garden Club in the 1980s, showcasing her passion for horticulture, she participated in numerous flower show arrangement competitions. Her deep love of gardening, planting flowers, building water ponds around her backyard brought her tremendous enjoyment and she always said being in the garden was her therapy.
Nancy also had great interest in History as evident through her esteemed membership in the Daughters of American Revolution, tracing her lineage back to ancestors who served in the American Revolution. Her involvement with the Daughters was a source of personal pride and community connection for her.
In 1987, Nancy embarked on an entrepreneurial journey with the establishment of Peppermill Catering. For over three decades, she offered more than just food; she offered absolute delight and joy to every event she graced. Whether catering a wedding, an anniversary party or countless luncheons and dinners, her focus was always providing the best servings possible from a small rural kitchen in Perryton, Texas.
Many times, event planners would request Nancy to cater the same event every year and they would request the same menu because they always looked forward to her food. Her kitchen was always open, with an abundance of warmth and flavors awaiting to delight friends and family. Her legacy is felt in cherished memories and relationships formed over countless meals she prepared. .
Surviving Nancy is her daughter Tina L. Anderson of Lubbock, her son Trent L. Anderson (Lydia), her grandchildren Caleb, Katelyn and Griffin, Woodbridge, VA; her sister Jo Heard, Munday, Texas; and her brother Tommy Enloe (Judy), Temple, Texas, her sister-in-law Dianne Douglas, Woodward, OK.
Preceding in death was her husband Jerry C. Anderson, her son Randy D. Anderson, her parents Paul D. Enloe and Anna Lois Kinney Enloe. With many friends and family having passed before, she was surely embraced with love beyond the veil of this world.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to those who lovingly supported Nancy in her later years. Special thanks to Victor Valencia, Carla Hielo, Ramon Valencia, Estephany Valencia, and Ariadna Valencia who provide support and friendship. Nancy always referred to the Valencia family as her Texas family, to Cynthia West Andreas, who ensured Nancy’s home remained a place of comfort. A profound thank you extends to Sandy Huey, whose selflessness and dedication brightened Nancy’s life, and to Dr. Juan Kurdi, who provided care for her during the last eight years which enabled her to continue to live a fulfilled life.
Nancy’s funeral service will be held at the First Christian Church in Perryton on November 16, 2024, at 2 p.m., followed by her burial at the Ochiltree Cemetery.
As we gather to celebrate Nancy’s life, we will forever celebrate her spirit ever-present in sweet blooms of springtime gardens and the fellowship of shared meals. Nancy’s eyes always had a twinkle when she talked or saw or shared stories about Caleb, Katelyn, and Griffin. Her presence will always be a part of those she touched and we celebrate knowing she is designing new gardens with many ponds and flowers and trees forever.
