Wheatheart Month in Ochiltree County

August is upon us, which means this year’s Wheatheart of the Nation Celebration is in full swing, with plenty of events still ahead of us.The Rotary Street Dance will be held on Friday, Aug. 8, from 7-10 p.m. at Whigham Park.

The 50-star American flag was designed by a high school student named Robert G. Heft in 1958. He designed the flag as a school project and received a grade of Bminus. Heft later sent the design to his congressman, and when it was chosen as the new national flag, his teacher raised his grade to an A.
