Local businesses set holiday hours

Many businesses and government offices around Perryton and Ochiltree County are set to take some hardearned time off during the Thanksgiving holiday this week.The Perryton Independent School District and Frank Phillips College Allen Campus will be closed for business all this week.

OGH to reapply for trauma designation

The Ochiltree County Hospital District Board of Directors met last Monday evening in the conference center at Ochiltree General Hospital.The meeting was unusually short, with only one major item on the board’s agenda: an application for renewal of the hospital’s trauma designation.

Commissioners discuss tax abatements

The Ochiltree County Commissioners’ Court met on Monday morning at the Ochiltree County Courthouse.Among other items on the agenda, the commissioners spoke with Scott Sherwood, an attorney from Panhandle, and an expert on tax abatements, to get an overview of the abatement process.

United Way drive jumps to 71%

The Ochiltree United Way’s 2026 fund drive made great progress last week. The drive has now raised $70,482, which is 71% of its $98,000 goal.Two new 100% Companies joined the list, Valero and Panhandle Crisis Center.

Numerous area organizations to benefit from The Panhandle Gives

Several local organizations and nonprofits will benefit during the upcoming Panhandle Gives charity campaign.Panhandle Gives is a nine-day charitable event hosted by the Amarillo Area Foundation (AAF). The campaign runs Nov. 24 through Dec. 2.
