Police wrangle a runaway kangaroo

Police in Cleveland, north of Houston, were kept hopping last week trying to catch a kangaroo spotted hopping down a road, the Austin American-Statesman reported. With the help of animal control and “some good Samaritans,” the kangaroo was collared and eventually returned to its owner.

Early voting in the March 3 primary election will begin next week.Voters can cast ballots beginning Tuesday, Feb. 17, and running through Feb. 27.The early voting schedule is Feb. 17-20 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.; Saturday, Feb. 21, 7 a.m.-7 p.m.; Sunday, Feb. 22, 12 noon-6 p.m.; and Feb. 23-27 from 7 a.m.

Candidates have until this Friday to file for one of the offices up for election on the Perryton City Council, the Perryton ISD Board of Trustees and the Ochiltree County Hospital District.Filing opened on Jan. 14, and will run through this Friday, Feb. 13, at 5 p.m.
