SENIOR CENTER MAKES DONATION— Booker Lions Club president Donna Sheppard, at left, accepted a check for $707 from Daryla Allred, the director of the Ochiltree County Senior Citizens Association, for the Fire Relief Fund benefitting the employees of Preferred Beef Group. Allred made the presentation recently at the weekly Booker Lions Club meeting. The donation was collected from members of OCSCA.

Keith Good was recently named a 20-year fellow of the Texas Bar College, an honorary society of lawyers and paralegals who are leaders in the Texas legal community and champions of legal education. The day off last Friday was a much needed break after the busy week we had. Who planned that?? Bake Sale, Bierox Sale, Board Meeting? Someone needs some organizational skills, or a knot on the head. All of our great volunteers would totally agree to help out with that last part.

Stone Age Fair set this Saturday

The annual Perryton Stone Age Fair is scheduled for Saturday, April 11.The fair will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Ochiltree County Expo Center.
Students at Wright and Williams Elementary Schools spent part of their day on Wednesday practicing for the annual Field Day coming up later this month. Every year, students at the elementary schools get to spend a day in the spring having fun competitions with each other at the track at Ranger Field. On Wednesday, students spent time running, throwing softballs, and practicing both running long jumps and standing broad jumps.

Early voting to start on April 20

Early voting will start Monday, April 20, for the Perryton City Council general election May 2.There are three candidates in the race, seeking two positions up for election on the council.They are incumbents Greg Good and J Aston, and are joined in the race by newcomer Lisa Kerl.

City sales tax payment down

The City of Perryton’s sales tax payment took another hit in April, but not as big as last month.The city received a payment of $203,048, which was close to 9% less than its April 2025 payment.For the year so far, the city is just slightly behind the 2025 payments to date, with $971,541, or .4%.
