When Paige the elephant made an appearance at the recent GOP state convention in Houston, its owner did not acquire the required city permit to bring wild animals into the city,The Dallas Morning Newsreported.

Marci Kirklin has been named the Young Careerist of the Month for June by the Panhandle Professional Women’s Club. She and her husband, Tyler, have three children: Corie, 9, and Cal and Hayes, 6.She is a first grade teacher at Wright Elementary.

A Perryton man has been arrested for capital murder.According to Perryton Police Chief Rafael Gonzalez, his office called the Texas Rangers on April 25 to assist with a murder investigation.On Thursday, Terrell Leon, 26, was arrested in Texas County, Oklahoma.

A man from Spearman drowned Friday evening at Lake Fryer in Wolf Creek Park.Around 7:30 p.m. on Friday, June 26, Texas Game Wardens in Ochiltree County responded to a possible water fatality on Lake Fryer.

The Ochiltree County Hospital District Board of Directors met on Monday evening in the conference center at Ochiltree General Hospital.Among other items on the agenda, the hospital board approved the purchase of additional IV pumps for OGH.

Alex Hernandez, age 10, at 421 S. Cedar, had his lemonade stand out last Saturday afternoon, offering delicious, ice-cold lemonade for just a dollar for Senn Slemmons.
